Kelly Dunn, from Hawaii, sits in on Phil's presentation

One of the pieces Phil did in an earlier session is finished up

The combination of dyes allows for a myriad of effects to be created

With a high gloss finish, it is an interesting piece

I only had a few minutes at the end of Phil Brennion's southwestern design session

This was one of Phil's example pieces

I attended the Stuart Mortimer twisted box session for the Saturday mid-morning rotation

Stuart explains what his plan of attack is going to be

Stuart creates a walnut box

He hollows it and quickly sands it

That part is removed

Stuart begins to create the top to the box

With the proper fit, the boxes lid is thinned down for the spiralling

The box bottom is chucked and the lid is friction fit to continue shaping

Areas that can be sanded are and then final shaping is done

The spiral finial is created

A look at the finial prior to sanding

The box bottom is chucked by using tape around the rim

The bottom of the box is finished and sanded

The box is assembled and given a coating of shellac
