A look off the mountain side into the valley shows the weather

Regardless of the weather, the food was great even though most ate quickly

Believe it or not, there are actually snow flakes coming down this high up

After a quick meal, it's back down to the school for the after dinner sessions

Because of the inclement weather, the swap meet was moved inside the building

With much less room than outside in the alleyway, it was pretty cozy shopping

As usual, there was all kinds of interesting items related to turning

My late evening selection was Jimmy Clewes doing a session on design, form, and aesthetics

This is Jimmy's second year at the Utah Woodturning Symposium

Jimmy turns a platter to get started

He finishes it quickly and adds some finish to the back side

Turned around, he begins to create the top side of the platter

All of Jimmy's sessions are well attended

Graham Priddle sits in on Jimmy's session (Andi Wolfe and Art Liestman in the background)

Jimmy creates a hollow in the platter and begins to add adhesive

Once the adhesive is partly dry, he begins to add imitation gold leaf

He finishes applying the leaf ...

and creates some additional focus design

Jimmy puts a bit of finish on it and ...

offers it to the audience for critique, suggestions, and improvements
