This Years Event

The 5th Annual Penturners Rendevous has come and gone. The event, held on Wednesday evening, June 20th in Provo UT. This year, as in recent years, there were over 100 attendees. Take a look at the photo selection below. You can also review the Pen Display exhibited at the event here.

The day starts at the Craft Supplies USA Super Wednesday

The Penturners Demos started with Kurt Hertzog doing a "tips and tricks" of penmaking

Rich Kleinhenz' demo followed on "closed end pens"

Bill Jackman did a demo on hidden clip techniques

       

After the CSUSA Super Wednesday, everyone scrambles to get to the Hampton Inn to get setup for the Rendezvous

The registration table and the Rendezvous badge table are finished up

Chris Hendley had organized a swap meet in the parking lot

Kurt Hertzog checks with Beverly Eisner and the Altigs

       

Elysa Jackman and Janet Smith are ready at the registration table

At 7PM, the doors are opened for the 5th Annual Penturners Rendezvous

It doesn't take long for the room to fill up

In the demo room, Kurt Hertzog puts on a turning tool sharpening demonstration

       

Kurt's demo is followed by Chris Hendley doing a presentation on using metal parts

Joe Herrmann, editor of Woodturning Design Magazine looks over the pen display

Angelo Iafrate, President of the American Association of Woodturners stops by

Kip Christensen, co-author of Turning Pens & Pencils and Chairperson of the Utah Woodturning Symposium, takes a look at the pen display

       

Dick Sing, author of many pen turning and other books, chats with one of the Rendezvous attendees

Kurt Hertzog and Rich Kleinhenz get the door prize drawings started at 9PM

With all of the vendor support, there is almost always a door prize for each attendee

Chris Hendley had organized a pen swap and the 5 participants get their swaps arranged

       

The doors prizes continue to be drawn and range from huge bags of premium sandpaper to Jet mini-lathes

The prizes are distributed until all are gone but the Jet mini-lathe prize

The grand prize winner of the Jet mini-lathe gets a certificate to get the prize shipped right to the house

By 10PM, all are gone and the room is cleaned up
