The pen is simply a spindle turning reamed appropriately and threaded to accept the fountain pen components.

A stick pen, using a plastic Papermate inkfill, made from Black Palm with some plastic accents inset.
A stick pen in Box Elder crudely styled to be a Lighthouse. The lighthouse roof is Blackwood atop a crystal to replicate the lamp glass. The windows and door are painted on using a black magic marker.

A desk pen using a 7 mm kit, done in Corian. The red, white, and blue countertop material was used for the 4th of July theme.
Properly bonded, the material exhibits an interesting transition from color to color through the seam.
The pen in it’s desk set with a Mahogany base to hold and stabilize a Galileo thermometer.

While the pen doesn’t do the wood justice, the base for the desk set in quilted Maple shows the wood off nicely.
A 7mm kit used to make a Tulipwood desk pen with hand cut spirals. The pen was an entry in a prior Provo Pen Display winning 1st place.
Another desk pen done with a fountain pen works from a kit. It uses the same 4th of July theme of red, white, and blue Corian. The tip is turned to resemble a flame.
